About i-Ultra Lounge:
IUltra Lounge is a visually remarkable venture from Hatsune boss Alan Wong. Sandwiched between two restaurants, it’s rather confusingly situated in the Block 8 complex at Chaoyang Park West Gate but has still managed to develop into the city’s number one hang out for the rich and beautiful.
After ascending the elevator on the side of the building you suddenly find yourself at the end of a long white tunnel, mirrored on one side, curved on the other, that looks a bit like a big open mouth (well, to some people…).
When you emerge you’re confronted with a rather larger space than you might expect, and an open plan area lends itself more to sitting than dancing. The average-sized dance floor is set in front of a stage occupied by a DJ most nights, who starts to play once the restaurants close at 11pm.
The drinks are pleasingly priced for a venue as stylish as this (40RMB whisky and Coke, 30RMB Tsingtao) and their extensive wine list contains over 140 bottles. Cocktails, while they take a shade too long to prepare, are fantastic.
Weekends see the sleek bar packed to the rafters with highly paid players dropping thousands on expensive bottles of champagne. The rooftop Beach – a space that has to be seen to be believed – comes complete with sand, sun-sofas, and a chilled out vibe.
