About Tunnel Bar:

If you’re anything like us, you made New Year resolutions to quit smoking, exercise more, drink less, and befriend a celebrity, like Jackie Chan (No better wing on Ladies’ Night). Tunnel Bar is doing a good job of making the first three impossible, and if anybody knows Jackie Chan give us a call.

You could sit this bar down in any major city in the world, and it wouldn’t be out of place, but it would be especially at home in New York’s Flatiron District. This new, nighttime hangout adheres to the nice-but-not-too-nice bar formula. The interior has been carefully done, but it’s not at all flashy. High, black ceilings, and exposed brick walls, make the place feel like a spacious railway tunnel or bomb shelter, and yet it still feels very inviting. It’s a perfect respite from the blinking lights, loud music, and theatric restaurants that crowd around nearby.

Tunnel Bar is the brainchild of the people behind Pulp Fiction, and that place definitely has some stories behind it, not all of them are fit to print, but you can expect Tunnel to carry on in the tradition of throwing some of the best holiday parties around.

In its first few weeks of operation, Tunnel has attracted a wide range of young and old, rich and poor. The talk is definitely louder than the music, and it’s a welcoming place for newcomers. Without a doubt, this bar has the best setup for pool in town. An immaculate, red felt billiard table is lit up by an old fashioned stained-glass lamp that evokes a near bygone era of smoke-filled pool halls. The table sits in the back of the bar surrounded by rough brick walls and sits atop gray, weathered planks of wood. The whole scene just screams, vintage.

Tunnel doesn’t have the lowest prices in town, but the argument can certainly be made that they have all of the best beer available in Suzhou. Stella Artois is on tap, and Chimay, Duvel, and Guinness all make appearances as well. There are also more cocktails than you can shake a stick at, however they do discourage actual stick shaking at the bar. Several flat screen TV’s make it an ideal place to watch sports and there is happy hour from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
